NFTA proposes first fare increase in eight years
advertisement
Niagra Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) plans to increase its fares for the first time in eight years to enhance services and combat increasing costs.
The authority would increase the basic fare from $1.25 to $1.50, helping increase revenue $2.1 million, according to a prepared statement. NFTA’s $87 million fiscal-year 2003 budget includes increases in property insurance (22 percent), health insurance (15.3 percent) and pensions (6.2 percent).
NFTA plans to conduct public hearings on the proposed adjustment in May. The changes would go into effect June 1.
