New Jersey Transit yesterday announced it awarded a $5.2 million contract to Hall Construction Co. Inc. for parts fabrication and installation of two replacement escalators at Hamilton Station.

The contract award move advances the project timeline by nearly six months, NJ Transit officials said in a press release.

Hamilton Station is located in Mercer County and provides access to NJ Transit commuter rail. It's one of the busiest stations on the Northeast Corridor, NJ Transit officials said.

Fabrication of parts and components of the escalators will take up to 10 months, and construction will begin once all parts are manufactured. The new escalators are scheduled to be operational by late spring or early summer 2026.

“By accelerating the timeline for procurement, we are prioritizing our focus on customer service and ensuring that escalators in the station operate as expected," said NJ Transit President and CEO Kris Kolluri.
