New Jersey Transit's board has awarded a $4.2 million construction management services contract for the renovation of the Perth Amboy station to KS Engineers PC of Newark.

The contract is part of a plan to enhance access for and modernize the station, which was built in 1927.

The project calls for completing various upgrades and making the station fully accessible with elevators, ramps and high-level platforms. When the work is completed, the station will meet federal requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act, NJ Transit officials said in a press release.

The $47 million project is included in NJ Transit's five-year capital plan, which was launched in June 2020. Construction is expected to be completed by late 2023.

“This new station represents just one of the many station enhancement projects advancing through our five-year capital plan, through which we are investing more than $1 billion in Middlesex County infrastructure alone, including our Raritan River Bridge replacement project and the County Yard/Delco Lead Storage and Inspection Facility.”
