Today, New Jersey Transit will begin testing Hudson-Bergen light-rail vehicles between Jersey City’s Grove Street, Paterson Plank Road and New York Avenue to a planned 2nd Street station in Hoboken.
The Hudson-Bergen light-rail extension is expected to open later this year to 22nd Street in Bayonne, N.J. In late 2005, the agency plans to begin service to Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen.
The light-rail line currently serves 16 stations between 34th Street in Bayonne and Hoboken Terminal, and between West Side Avenue in Jersey City and Hoboken Terminal.
