NJ Transit breaks ground on Edison Station parking project
advertisement
New Jersey Transit recently launched construction on its first stimulus-funded project: a new Edison Station parking lot.
The $4.7 million project calls for building a new lot adjacent to the station's outbound platform, and repaving and reconfiguring an existing lot on the inbound side of the tracks to optimize capacity and improve traffic flow.
The project will more than double the station's parking capacity from 362 spaces to 816. NJ Transit currently has about 370 names on a waiting list for parking at the station, which is one of the busiest on the agency's network.
The project is expected to be complete in early 2010.
