NJ Transit contracts chopper to complete aerial rights-of-way survey
advertisement
New Jersey Transit plans soon to begin aerial surveys of its rights of way to map key infrastructure areas.
A specially-equipped helicopter with side antennas will collect data, images and video footage. NJ Transit plans to use the information to create maps, which would enable the agency to speed emergency response capabilities and enhance employees’ training.
The helicopter also will be equipped with Light Detection and Ranging technology, a global positioning system controlled laser scan designed to create a three-dimensional image of NJ Transit’s rights of way.
Expected to be complete by the end of April, the survey will be conducted by John Chance Land Surveys Inc.
