NJ Transit helps inaugurate Weehawken ferry/train/bus terminal

Yesterday, New Jersey Transit, New York Waterway and state and local officials took the wraps off the new Port Imperial Ferry Terminal in Weehawken, N.J.

Located across the street from NJ Transit’s Port Imperial Station, the 31,000-square foot intermodal facility is expected to serve more than 4,000 commuters traveling between Weehawken and New York City each weekday. Officially opening today, the terminal provides connections to NJ Transit trains and buses.

The facility — which replaces an undersized terminal built in 1986 — soon will connect to Port Imperial Station via a 194-foot pedestrian overpass.
