Yesterday, New Jersey Transit officials opened a new Plauderville Station on the Bergen County Line. The station features a high-level platform and serves about 400 riders daily.

In August 2009, the NJ Transit’s board approved a $7.9 million contract with Anselmi & DeCicco Inc. to build two 450-foot, high-level platforms and construct a new heated waiting area on the inbound platform. The project also included canopies, lighting, electronic signage, closed-circuit television cameras, ramps and sidewalks.

The new platforms, which were built next to a parking area between Midland Avenue and Outwater Lane, provide riders more convenient access to parking. Plauderville Station is the first NJ Transit facility to incorporate platforms built with a structural polymer composite system instead of concrete to save maintenance costs, agency officials said in a prepared statement.

NJ Transit now plans to close the old Plauderville station next to Midland Avenue.
