New Jersey Transit and the borough of Matawan are seeking developers and builders interested in bidding on a 7-acre mixed-used, transit-oriented development (TOD) project adjacent to the Aberdeen-Matawan rail station.

The project's goal is to combine moderate- to high-density residential units with retail, office and community spaces to create a walkable community with easy access to regional amenities and destinations via rail service, according to a NJ Transit press release.

NJ Transit has begun a request for qualifications for the section of property owned by the transit authority.

Last month, NJ Transit launched a website to host those project documents for interested bidders and development opportunities.
