NJ Transit is seeking a company to provide of wireless broadband (Wi-Fi) Internet services at rail stations and onboard trains, and has issued a request for proposals from qualified firms.

A Wi-Fi network would allow access to most Internet applications, including web browsing, email, Virtual Private Network applications, file uploads and downloads, and video and audio streaming.

The selected firm will be responsible for system design and architecture, including a list of materials, software, functionality of each module and all connections between system components, as well as an implementation schedule, NJ Transit officials said in a prepared statement.
