National Training Institute is offering frontline employees and supervisors two new transit security training courses developed specifically for transit systems in cooperation with Federal Transit Administration, Federal Aviation Administration and Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as with transit agencies, labor unions and security professionals, according to the July issue of FTA’s Office of Safety and Security Transit Security Newsletter.
"System Security Awareness for Transit Employees" is designed for front-line employees and supervisors with direct contact with the public or vehicles and facilities, and focuses on developing skills sets to observe, determine and report suspicious or out-of-place people and things.
"Security Incident Management for Transit Supervisors," a two-hour add-on course for road supervisors, dispatchers, foremen and other managers, addresses communication, information gathering and analysis, hazard and risk identification, decision making, and plan implementation.
Courses and materials are offered free to transit organizations. A course schedule can be found at www.NTIONLINE.com.
