The Nashville Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) registered a 29 percent increase in train and bus ridership in April, and a 31 percent jump in Music City Star ridership, compared with figures from a year ago.
In addition, the Music City Star posted a single-day record of 1,455 riders on June 10, RTA officials said in a prepared statement.
“Certainly, we’ve seen a significant increase in ridership this year in response to high gas prices, but we are also seeing new riders enjoying their experience with public transportation and sticking with it,” RTA Chairwoman Jo Ann Graves said.
Year to date through April, RTA total ridership rose 16 percent and Music City Star ridership climbed 25 percent compared with the same period a year ago, officials said.
