WeGo Star rail service in Nashville could expand under a draft transit plan by the Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee (RTA).

The RTA recently held public meetings to gather input on the draft plan, which proposes improvements that would accommodate additional rail service, address changing customer needs, maintain a state of good repair for the Star, and provide a positive impact on the region and station communities, according to an RTA news release.

The proposed improvements include evening train service on weekdays, the addition of Saturday service during the day and evening, routing all train trips between Lebanon and Nashville, midday bus service between stations, and continued special event and Tennessee Titans game service on Sundays.

Implementation of the draft transit plan is contingent on RTA Board approval, continued coordination with freight operator R.J. Corman Railroad Group and the Nashville and Eastern Railroad Authority, as well as the identification of funding for increased operations, maintenance and one-time capital investments.
