New DART facility to reflect community's character
advertisement
A future Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) facility is designed to reflect the heritage of surrounding neighborhoods while serving as a southeast corridor station, linking downtown Dallas and Pleasant Grove.
Scheduled for a Feb. 21 ground-breaking, the $3 million facility will feature enclosed, climate-controlled waiting areas; vending machines; restrooms and more than 200 free parking spaces.
Through DART’s Art and Design Program, the public has been involved in the facility’s design, which will be based on the area’s African heritage.
The transit center is expected to open in fall 2004.
