advertisement
New Jersey Transit recently exercised an option with Bombardier Transportation to purchase 131 additional multi-level vehicles.
The $206 million order is an extension of a 2002 contract. To date, NJ Transit has ordered 231 multi-level vehicles from Bombardier valued at $457 million. If the remaining options are exercised to purchase 46 additional vehicles, the contract would total $525 million.
The current order of cars will be delivered between June 2007 and August 2008. NJ Transit plans to use the cars on its line between New Jersey and Manhattan.
