Rail News: Passenger Rail
The New Mexico Department of Transportation’s and Mid-Region Council of Governments’ environmental assessment for the Rail Runner Express Phase II is ready for public review.
The agencies will hold a public hearing next week to discuss environmental work for the line’s second phase, which calls for extending the commuter-rail service 50 miles north to Santa Fe by 2008’s end.
Rail Runner’s initial 50-mile Belen-to-Bernalillo phase opened in segments, the first of which entered service in July 2006.
