Today, the Mid-Region Council of Governments launched commuter-rail service on a portion of the 46-mile Belen-to-Bernalillo New Mexico Rail Runner Express, including stops at the U.S. 550, Los Ranchos/Journal Center and downtown Albuquerque stations.
The council will open the remaining six stations by year’s end.
Rides are free through Oct. 13. Afterwards, the council will charge a $2 flat fare through year end, then implement a permanent fare structure on Jan. 1.
