New York State furthers high-speed plans
advertisement
New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), with the cooperation of CSX Transportation and Amtrak, recently sought approval from Federal Railroad Administration to operate passenger trains at Class 7 speeds (more than 100 mph) through grade crossings along Amtrak’s Empire High Speed Corridor between New York City and Schenectady, N.Y.
NYSDOT would implement a Five-Year Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, which would include crossing improvement, elimination and closure.
FRA has invited interested parties to participate in the proceedings by submitting written opinions, data or comments; but the agency doesn’t anticipate the need for a formal hearing at this point.
