New name 'unifies' Bi-State Development Agency
advertisement
Effective Feb. 1, St. Louis’ Bi-State Development Agency plans to change its name to Metro.
The name will be adopted to better describe what the agency is and does, according to a prepared statement. The process of changing the name began 10 years ago, when the agency debuted MetroLink and began using an "M" logo on all transit vehicles.
The Metro name will reinforce the connection among the various components of the region’s transit operations.
"It is a positive change that we believe creates a more unified identity for the entire systems for our current customers and potential new riders, who will see a stronger link between MetroLink, MetroBus and Metro Call-A-Ride service," said Larry E. Salci, Metro’s president and chief executive officer.
Metro’s services, routes and fares will not be affected by the new name, but the agency’s Web address will change to www.metrostlouis.org.
