The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) on Aug. 10 will resume the Amtrak Piedmont passenger-rail service between Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina.

In May, the NCDOT suspended operations of the state-operated service due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To ensure passenger and crew safety, riders will be required to wear facial coverings in stations and on trains. Amtrak also will limit the number of riders per train to enable physical distancing, NCDOT officials said in a press release.
