Northstar Corridor authority launches construction on another station
advertisement
The station ground-breakings keep coming for the Northstar Corridor Development Authority. The agency recently launched construction on its third suburban station.
Like the other Northstar Corridor commuter-rail stations, the latest one in Anoka, Minn., will feature automated ticket vending machines, on-demand heating in covered and enclosed platform shelters, bicycle lockers, ADA-compliant platforms and platform security cameras. Development plans near the station include road improvements, pedestrian connections, parks and open space, and a multi-level parking structure.
Meanwhile, Anoka city officials continue to refine plans to attract transit-oriented development for the site. Plans call for constructing high-density housing north of the tracks, and commercial, office or light industrial development south of the tracks.
Scheduled to open in 2009, the 40-mile Northstar Corridor will run between Minneapolis and Big Lake, Minn.
