The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and Metrolink have invited the public to learn more about a proposed track project in Dana Point, California, during a virtual public meeting to be held today.

The Serra Siding Extension Project — currently in the environmental and planning phase — involves extending a siding 1.2 miles along the existing rail right of way south from Victoria Boulevard to just before Beach Road. The siding runs next to a main track and allows trains to pass each other. The project would prevent delays and enable more frequent train service, OCTA officials said in a press release.

During the virtual meeting, the public will learn more about the project and the environmental review process and be able to ask questions.

The Serra Siding Extension is part of Metrolink’s Southern California Optimized Rail Expansion program, which covers the railroad's Orange County and Inland Empire-Orange County lines and Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner line.
