The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has awarded the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) $2.2 million to help cover the cost of new services for one year.
The money is part of the $10 million Next Generation fund, a three-year program that ODOT announced in October 2010. The fund allows Ohio transit agencies to invest in services that contribute to economic development and job access in the state, GCRTA officials said in a prepared statement.
The ODOT-funded services include the C-Line downtown trolley; a service-hour extension of the E-Line and B-Line trolley service; and the Rock Line, a weekend trolley service.
Routing, scheduling and other details still are being worked out, GCRTA officials said.
