Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) recently awarded a contract to Parsons Brinckerhoff to provide consulting services for preliminary engineering and environmental studies for a proposed light-rail project under COTA’s FastTrax Rail Program.



The 13-mile, 14-station North Corridor Light Rail Transit line would run from downtown Columbus, Ohio, north to the Franklin/Delaware County line. COTA estimates 17,600 people would ride trains daily.



The line would run parallel to CSX Transportation’s Columbus Line and Norfolk Southern Railway’s Sandusky-Columbus lines from Polaris south to 17th Street. Between 17th Street and COTA’s new Arena Transit Center near Interstate 670, the route might follow Summit and Fourth streets, or take an alternative route to serve the Ohio State University campus.



Parsons Brinckerhoff is responsible for defining the project, determining options, preparing an environmental impact statement and conducting preliminary engineering.
