Ontario Northland passenger-rail service coming to Iroquois Falls
advertisement
Beginning Dec. 15, the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission will begin offering Northlander passenger-rail service to the town of Iroquois Falls, Ontario.
Trains will stop at the site of the former Porquis Junction train station. The facility will be a “flag stop” location, meaning the train will only stop if passengers are visible on the station platform or if passengers on the train have advised that their final destination is Porquis Junction.
Residents living near Iroquois Falls previously had to travel to or from Matheson, about 20 miles away, to access train service. Ontario Northland now will discontinue its shuttle service, which had transported passengers from Iroquois Falls to Matheson to connect with the Northlander.
The Northlander train travels six days a week between Cochrane and Toronto.
