Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx last week awarded Ontario Transit Group a CA$6 billion contract to design, build and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel package.
The Ontario Transit Group includes an applicant lead (Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grand Projets), a design team (AECOM Canada Ltd., COWI North America Ltd., GHD Ltd. and SENER Group), a construction team (Ferrovial and Janin Atlas Inc.) and a financial adviser (Agentis Capital).
The group will begin mobilizing its design and construction crews, with major work to begin in 2023, Infrastructure Ontario officials said in a press release. Work is expected to finish in 2030.
The scope of the project package includes:
The Ontario Line will be a nearly 10-mile rapid transit line running between the Ontario Science Centre and Exhibition/Ontario Place in Toronto. Fifteen stations will be located along the route, including six interchange stations. The new line will provide dozens of connections to other transit services, including bus, streetcar, light rail and regional heavy rail.
