advertisement
Orange County Transportation Authority’s board Oct. 22 unanimously agreed to pursue preliminary engineering for a proposed $1 billion CenterLine light-rail project.
The 20-mile alignment would begin at Irvine Transportation Center and continue to Regional Transportation Center, connecting Irvine, Costa Mesa and Santa Ana, Calif.
Two other options could connect University of California, Irvine and Santa Ana College to the alignment. Pending Federal Transportation Administration approval, preliminary engineering could begin early next year; construction, in about two years.
