The city of Ottawa, Ontario, has released a request for qualifications (RFQ) for the downtown portion of the Ottawa Light-Rail Transit (ORLT) project: an eight-mile line between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair Station, as outlined by the Ottawa City Council. The line would include 13 stations.

The RFQ outlines the evaluation criteria, including the necessary skills and experience to complete the project, Ottawa officials said in a prepared statement.

“Respondents will need to demonstrate their success in design, management, construction, system integration, testing, commissioning and maintenance of high capacity light-rail transport projects of similar scope and size as the ORLT project,” they said.

An independent “fairness commissioner” will oversee the evaluation process. The RFQs are due Sept. 13. Pre-qualified respondents will be invited to respond to the ORLT’s request for proposals. The final contract is slated for approval in late 2012.
