Construction crews yesterday began work on a $2.6 million project to improve the parking lots at the Port Authority Transit Corp.'s (PATCO) Collingswood, N.J., station and Ferry Avenue station in Camden, N.J.

The seven-month project will involve phased removal of all asphalt and portions of concrete curb and sidewalk in both lots, which will remain open during the project. After completion, the Collingswood station will feature 80 additional permanent spaces, PATCO officials said in a press release.

The project marks the final stage of a $9.8 million, multi-year effort to repave all parking lots and access roads at PATCO stations.
