PATCO to hike fares on Jan. 1

On Jan. 1, the Delaware River Port Authority will raise fares for its Port Authority Transit Corp. (PATCO) service by 10 percent.
The board approved the fare hike in August 2008. The increase was scheduled to take effect in September, but the board decided to postpone the increase until Jan. 1. The agency’s last fare hike — also totaling 10 percent — took effect in September 2008.
PATCO operates rail service between southern New Jersey and Philadelphia.
