The pandemic continued to impact ridership at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s (PANYNJ) Port Authority-Trans Hudson (PATH) rail system in July.
When compared to pre-COVID volumes in July 2019, PATH ridership remained down during the month.
PATH reported 2.7 million riders in July 2021, down 62% from July 2019's level. However, ridership rose 7.2% from June 2021's mark.
Port volumes continued to set new cargo records for the 12th consecutive month and achieved the highest July monthly total in the port’s history, PANYNJ officials said in a press release.
The Port of New York and New Jersey moved 758,810 20-foot equivalent units in July. Cargo volume was up 14.5% from July 2019, setting a new monthly record. Compared to the previous month, cargo volumes increased 1.3%.
