Paris agency places $156.3 million trainset order with Bombardier-ALSTOM consortium

Paris Transport Authority (RATP) recently placed a $156.3 million order for 14 trainsets comprising five MI2N-type double-deck cars each with a Bombardier Transportation-ALSTOM consortium.
A follow-on order to a 1992 contract signed in 1992, the transaction includes. RATP plans to use the vehicles on Paris Regional Express Network's A line. To date, RATP has ordered a total of 215 MI2N-type carbodies.
Bombardier plans to produce the vehicles at its French facility in Crespin concurrently with work to fulfill a 2001 order to supply the future MF2000 Paris Metro, Executive Vice President Jacques Lamotte said in a prepared statement.
The vehicles are scheduled to enter revenue service in March 2004.
