Paris metro awards Alcatel $49 million CBTC contract
advertisement
Paris’ Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens recently awarded Alcatel a four-year, $49 million contract to upgrade RATP’s communications-based train control system.
Following live demonstrations from several manufacturers, RATP decided to begin the upgrade process with its most-crowded route — the 14-mile long metro-line 13.
The upgrade, using Alcatel’s 6530 Seltrac (S30), would provide automatic train operation and automatic train protection, and reduce headways from 105 seconds to 90 seconds.
