Brandywine Realty Trust May 8 announced an agreement with Amtrak to develop a parcel of land next to the national passenger railroad’s 30th Street Station in Philadelphia.

Plans include a 28-story building with more than 500,000 square feet of office, conference and retail space. The facility will be designed by architect Cesar Pelli and architects Bower Lewis Trower. Pelli, best known for his design of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, World Financial Center in New York and Canary Wharf in London, said in a prepared statement that he considered Philadelphia’s skyline and location, and wants to create a western anchor piece to the city’s skyscape.

The building also would have fire-rated vestibules, wide stair towers, a reinforced foundation, and additional security measures.
