Pennsylvania House green lights funds for new commuter-rail line
advertisement
Earlier this week, the Pennsylvania House approved a budget amendment that would appropriate $2 million to fund inter-city commuter-rail service between Pittsburgh and Altoona, Pa.
Commuter trains — possibly self-propelled diesel multiple units — would operate on existing Norfolk Southern Railway tracks.
The amendment will be part of the House budget bill. The state legislature must adopt a 2005-2006 budget by June 30.
