Port Authority receives FEMA grant for rebuilding World Trade Center station

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently reimbursed the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey $92.4 million toward construction of a temporary Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) station at the World Trade Center site.
The grant covers about half the construction cost; the authority expects to receive the rest of the money from insurance claims. The authority also plans to use federal dollars to install track and traction power, and lighting, electrical, and signal and communications systems, according to a prepared statement.
"The resumption of PATH service to the World Trade Center site will restore a vital link in the region’s transportation network that was severed during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks," said Port Authority Executive Director Joseph Seymour.
PATH service in lower Manhattan is expected to resume in December.
