Puget Sound transit agencies weigh regional day pass options

Sound Transit and King County Metro are among six transit agencies in the Puget Sound region considering new regional day pass options for their One Regional Card for All (ORCA) smart-card products.

The agencies are considering implementing an $8 regional day pass for adult riders that would offer unlimited rides on services with fares up to $3.50. Seniors and riders with disabilities would be able to purchase a regional day pass for $4.50, which would provide unlimited rides on services with fares up to $1.75.

The new products would be accepted on the region's light rail, commuter rail, streetcar, bus and foot ferry services.

The ORCA Joint Board will solicit public feedback on the proposal at a hearing April 13. The agencies also will accept feedback via email or telephone.
