The Regional Transportation District of Denver (RTD) today celebrated the opening of its newest electrified commuter-rail line, the N Line, which extends from Denver to Thornton, Colorado.
The N Line includes six new stations along a 13-mile corridor between Union Station and Eastlake 124th Station, serving Denver, Commerce City, Northglenn and Thornton. An end-to-end trip will take about 29 minutes.
“Being able to deliver this key transit investment in the middle of a pandemic is even more extraordinary, and will contribute to the region’s recovery from this historic event,” RTD officials said in a press release.
Starting at noon today, RTD will offer free rides on the N Line through Sept. 27. Then, on Sept. 28 and through March 27, 2021, local riders will be offered a $3 promotional fare rate for one-way travel along the line's entirety.
