The Regional Transportation District of Denver's (RTD) staff presented to the board last week a final list of four teams to bid on building out the Southeast Rail extension.The four teams, which were among seven that responded to a request for qualifications, are:• Balfour Beatty Infrastructure with Parsons Brinkerhoff, serving as prime contractor and performing systems and design work;• Graham-Kraemer Joint Venture, serving as the prime contractor, with Modern Railway Systems providing systems and Stantec providing design;• Kiewit as prime contractor with Mass Electric providing systems and Hatch Mott MacDonald providing design; and• Stacy & Witbeck-Herzog-Wadsworth Joint Venture as prime contractor, with Modern Railway Systems providing systems and STV providing design. The four teams will receive a request for proposal by Feb. 27, according to an RTD news release. The proposals will be due in May.After a finalist is selected and RTD's board awards a contract, the notice to proceed (NTP) for design work is expected to be granted later this year, while the NTP for construction is expected in 2016.The extension will add 2.3 miles to the Southeast Rail Line from Lincoln Station to RidgeGate Parkway.
