Rail 2 Rail program shows first-quarter progress
advertisement
Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA) passengers are responding to a program that provides more flexible transit options.
More than 86,000 passengers have taken advantage of the Rail 2 Rail program implemented last fall by SCRRA, Amtrak and the California Department of Transportation. The program enables monthly pass holders on the SCRR Ventura and Orange County lines to ride any Amtrak Pacific Surfliner or bus within the trip limits of their pass at no charge. Amtrak passengers can use their tickets on any SCRR service within ticket limits.
Since the program’s inception, Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner posted record four-month ridership of 615,500 passengers — a 20 percent increase compared with a similar period.
