Rail Runner Express receives high rider satisfaction marks

A majority of New Mexico’s Rail Runner Express passengers are satisfied with the commuter-rail system’s service and would recommend it to others, according to recently released results of a rider survey. The agency also received high marks for seating availability, safe train operations, and conductor and ticket agent courtesy.
About 600 riders completed a survey in February. Among the findings: 78 percent of the respondents ride the train to get to work, while 22 percent use it to get to school, for social visits, personal or business appointments, or to go shopping. In addition, 84 percent said they have their own vehicles and more than half take the train five days a week.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation and Mid-Region Council of Governments launched service on the Rail Runner in July 2006. Today, Rail Runner carries about 2,000 passengers per day.
