The Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp. (Metra) recently contracted Railhead Vision Systems to supply more than 500 onboard video surveillance systems.

The digital color, audio-visual systems will enable Metra to record the operation of crossing gates, bells, horns and lights. The agency plans to use the surveillance systems to investigate accidents, and deter trespassers and vandals.

Railhead provides system integration and distribution services for Apollo Video and other rail industry audio-visual manufacturers.
