On Nov. 7, Rhode Island residents will vote on a ballot measure calling for rail line, public transit system, and road and bridge improvements.

If approved, Question 5 would authorize Rhode Island to issue $88.5 million in bonds for transportation improvements and enable the state to provide matching funds for $394 million in federal dollars available to Rhode Island during the next two fiscal years.

The bonds would provide $80 million for the highway and bridge program, $7 million for commuter rail and $1.5 million for buses.
