Last month, trains running along Minneapolis/St. Paul's Metro Transit Green Line provided nearly 1.25 million rides, marking a new monthly record for the light-rail route.

Additionally, average weekday ridership came in at 45,644, which surpassed the agency's forecast of 41,000 by 2030, according to Metro Transit's "Rider's Almanac" blog.

Total ridership on the Green Line through end of September was 8.94 million.

Metro Transit officials attributed September's strong light-rail ridership to special events.
