Russian commuter-rail agency Moscow Rail recently awarded a contract to Timken Rail Service Co. — a division of The Timken Co. — to supply passenger-train bearings.
The supplier will provide its self-contained, pre-assembled, pre-lubricated Timken SP bearing, which incorporates Timken’s Hydrodynamic Labyrinth (HDL™) seal, and is designed to hold in lubricant while keeping out debris and reduce operating temperature.
"Timken worked closely with the Moscow Rail officials to define, design and deliver a cost-efficient, low-maintenance, tapered roller bearing package interchangeable with the cylindrical roller bearings currently mounted on the axles of the commuter trains," said Timken Area Manager-Russia Mikhail Gorokhov in a prepared statement.
