Rutgers ad sales to raise $5,000 monthly for PATCO rail line

Rutgers University-Camden’s School of Business has become the first advertiser on the Port Authority Transport Corp.’s (PATCO) passenger tickets, which will generate $5,000 monthly to offset operating expenses on the commuter-rail line.
Rutgers bought the advertising space on 200,000 paper tickets, the amount typically used by riders in a month, PATCO officials said in a prepared statement.
“We’re looking at ways to increase revenue and keep fares stable,” said PATCO General Manager John Rink. “The tickets were an unused advertising medium, and we decided to put them to work.”
The advertising program began Monday. In April, the Delaware River Port Authority announced preliminary plans to sell naming rights to PATCO stations.
