SEPTA adjusts regional train schedules

Today, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) will begin operating trains on a few lines under new schedules.
Regional rail route R8 Fox Chase trains will operate on a 3.5-mile single-track section between the Wayne Junction and Cheltenham stations due to increased freight traffic throughout the area. SEPTA previously shared tracks with CSX Transportation; now, some outbound trains will operate on an auxiliary track. The authority will adjust timetables by several minutes to enable inbound trains to pass through the area.
SEPTA also will adjust peak train times on regional rail routes R2 Warminster, R3 West Trenton and R5 Lansdale-Doylestown because of longer station stops. The change will improve traffic through the Jenkintown-to-Wayne Junction rail corridor.
In addition, the authority will adjust several R5 Lansdale-Doylestown schedules, enabling trains to stop at stations longer to accommodate increased ridership.
