SEPTA completes renovations at historic Chestnut Hill station

Last week, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) marked the completion of an award-winning renovation project at its Queen Lane Regional Rail station.

The station, which serves SEPTA’s Chestnut Hill West Line, was built in 1885. During the $4.1 million, 15-month renovation project, the agency restored the existing station building’s exterior, pedestrian bridge and shelters; refurbished a station building porch; renewed platform surfaces; constructed new concrete stairs; installed new lighting, signage, landscaping, benches and trash receptacles; and resurfaced the outbound parking lot.


SEPTA has won a 2011 Preservation Achievement Award from the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia for the renovations completed at the Chestnut Hill station, as well as the Allen Lane, Clifton-Aldan, Folcroft, Morton and North Wales regional rail stations.
