SEPTA invites high school IT students to TechiesDay 2002

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority plans to host TechiesDay 2002 on Oct. 10 for area high school students interested in information technology (IT).

Students from George Washington High School and the Philadelphia School District will be able to tour and observe SEPTA’s IT department from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to learn about IT’s role in the agency’s daily operations, as well as IT career opportunities.

TechiesDay 2002 is part of a larger effort by area businesses to help students learn about the IT industry and careers.

During the past several years, SEPTA has recruited and trained 30 IT students through its internship program. As a result, the Reinvestment Fund recently presented the agency with its 2002 PRISM Award, recognizing SEPTA’s approach to workforce development.
