Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and other local officials formally opened the recently rebuilt Fox Chase Station in Philadelphia late last week.
The new station, which features energy-efficient HVAC and lighting, is eligible for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver designation, SEPTA officials said in a prepared statement.
“Fox Chase Station’s LEED eligibility is another example of how ‘green’ public transportation is,” said SEPTA General Manager Joseph Casey.
The $1.1 million renovation project began in fall 2009 and was funded with federal stimulus dollars.
The station is the terminus of SEPTA’s Fox Chase Regional Rail Line.
